San José de Ocoa, pasture, ait. 1300 m.

Herb, growing in dense clumps, to 3 m tall
bracts waxy, brown, petals pinkish, stami-*
nodes 4, stamen, and style orange-red, lip
idem, spotted with yellow at the base.
