  • Habitat

    Degraded campo cerrado. Well-scattered shrubs & small trees twisted by former fires, giving a savanna-like aspect. Ground cover of grasses & herbs. General vegetation: Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. Soil poor, dark reddish-brown sandy clay.

  • Description

    Tree 8 m. tall, trunk 28½ cm. d.b.h. Bark thick, corky. Petals yellow. Single stamen in each flower with thick filament, shiny creamy white. Anthers along the wide edge are brown near locule apertures. Styles & stigma light yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
