Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the point at 1300 m elevation closest to the geographic center of all the area at 1300 m elevation within both the Parque Estadual do Brigadeiro and the municipality of Carangola, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Using Google Maps located the Parque Estadual do Brigadeiro and using Geonames.org located the boundaries for the municipality of Carangola. Using Google Maps - Terrain View, located the two most distant points (-20.771061, -42.490922 and -20.596363, -42.397900) within both features at an elevation of 1300m. Using Google Maps - What's here tool found coordinates (final) for the closest point at 1300 m elevation to the midpoint of the two most distant points within both features (-20.684533, -42.444838). Used Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find linear extent by measuring from the selected final coordinates to the farther of the two points at 1300m elevation in the Parque Estadual do Brigadeiro and within the municiplaity Carangola (-20.771061, -42.490922). Input: coordinates, measurement error (0.01 km), linear extent (10.94 km) into MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find found the uncertainty radius (10952 m).
