    Tree, to 20 m. tall, trunk ca. 0.5 m. in diam. Wood very hard, reddish. Sepals red-maroon, becoming lighter at margin with age. Petals with reddish veins toward base, becoming golden yellow toward margin. Fliaments yellow at petals. Anthers reddish. Style green. Young fruits reddish, terete. Flowers slightly fragrant.
