Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "Posto Indigeno Karitiana." Referred to book, "The Indians of Central and South America: An Ethnohistorical Dictionary," by James S. Olson for more information about the Karitiana tribe (Olson, James S. The Indians of Central and South America: An Ethnohistorical Dictionary. Westport: Greenwood Press, 1991, p. 186, via http://books.google.com/books?id=175c4xOpLtYC&pg=PA186&lpg=PA186&dq=Karitiana+rondonia+brazil&source=bl&ots=W26-7iim-7&sig=5qgQ0zXGKPQsaPDy_OY71cvuiCo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=NmTaU6nYCJG0yATZyoKQDw&ved=0CFMQ6AEwDA#v=onepage&q=Karitiana%20rondonia%20brazil&f=false). Georeferenced to 50 km south of the approximate geographic center of Porto Velho, in accordance with the reference material and the locality description. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the city of Porto Velho in Mun. Porto Velho, Rondônia. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the approximate geographic center of the city. Because the city has defined spatial boundaries on Google Maps, used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the city. To find the offset, input coordinates (-8.7588666,-63.8652474), linear extent (8.24954 km), offset distance (50 km), offset direction (S), measurement error (0.0005 km), and distance precision (10 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the offset coordinates and the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset at a heading).

The tongue-numbing principle of P.ottonoides is found in ca 35 species , including all the species found in the genus Ottonia. From recent studies it seems that the t-n principle it is due to N-isobutylamide . (Isolated from 2 species of Ottonia and named Piperovatine.).
