Western SAN GABRIEL MTNS: vicinity of Wilson Canyon Saddle; San Fernando 1.5' USGS quad; R15W T3N, NE/4 SE/4 sect 9; ca 3110 ft elevation.
Locally common arborescent shrub or small tree on mesic northerly slope off the N side of the saddle. New branches grayish-brown; trunks light gray with rather narrow vertical fissures. Locally associated with Quercus agrifolia, Symphoricarpos albus laevigatus, Ribes malvaceum malvaceum, Cirsium occidentale, etc. Unusual locality for this taxon which in the San Gabriels in generally on the S side of the range.
