San Gabriel Valley: Pomona, Cal Poly Pomona campus at Kellogg West (San Dimas 15' Q.: 34°03'24"N, 117°4935"W, ±100m). Alt.: 259-267m/850-875ft. Steep N-faeing hill slope below parking lot of conference center and dorms on hilltop; walnut woodland with Heteromeles and a few escaped ornamentals (Pistacia chinensis, Celtis australis)', on fine clay-loam derived from soft shale and mudstone of marine origin.
Scarce tree c. 10 m tall, middle erf slope among J. calif, (probable maternal species); no fruit on tree and only 1 found on ground. Broad, spreading crown.
