Snyder, IL 7.5 min. quadrangle. Elevation 531 feet. Dry silty-loam, possibly neutral to acidic; elevated low ridge. Dry-mesic savanna remnant, with Diospyros virginiana, Carya texana, Corylus americana, Fraxinus americana, Helianthus hirsutus. Occasional to locally common scattered tree about 15 meters tall; fruits with thick husk, green; leaves and petioles sometimes rusty color; many leaves with small round galls, leaves dark green above, paler beneath.
