Tall tree. Buds hairy. Growing in an Acer rubrum dominated area of an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Clethra alnifolia, Lilium supurbum, Sassafras albidum, Celastrus orbiculatus and Maianthemum racemosum.
