Provincia Baoruco: Sierra de Neiba, Sabana del Silencio (disturbed valley, covered with Danthonia. Area apparently was once a pine forest. Elev. 2201 m. 18°39'07“N 71033'26“W. Hillsides covered with broadleaved forest, understory with Arthrostylidium, Rubus, and numerous ferns, epiphytes and Usnea. Shrub 2.5 m tall; inflorescence erect; flower buds green; fruits depressed-globose, orangish. Silica gel sample collected.
