0.3-0.4 mile south of junction with Illinois Route 146. Mississippi River floodplain. Ware 7.5 minute U.S.G.S. quadrangle. Elevation 340-350 feet. Alluvial soil, silt and sand with humus.
Floodplain forest on elevated slope at north margin of cypress swamp, dominated by Acer negundo, Acer saccharinum, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Celtis laevigata, Cephalanthus occidentalis. Occasional large tree 15-20 meters tall, catkins green, pendulous; foliage with sweet mildly resinous aroma. Note: same tree as S.R.Hill 34278.
