Tree 70ft tall, trunk diameter 18in, rare, only one tree seen although there used to be two trees here prior to the 2004 hurricanes. Growing at the N. side of a partly-cleared hammock remnant in sandy soil (Chobee fine sandy loam, frequently flooded; fine-loamy, siliceous, superactive, hyperthermic Typic Argiaquolls), with Quercus laurifolia, Quercus virginiana, Sabal palmetto, Taxodium distichum, Tillandsia recurvata, & Tillandsia usneoides. In a picnic area at the S. end of Lake Arbuckle, about 300ft E. of the mouth of Arbuckle Creek, and just NE of the entrance booth, Avon Park Air Force Range, Polk Co. Elev. about 54ft. 27° 39' 54.2"N, 81° 22' 35.8"W; UTM 17R 462858E,
