North Coast, Prov. Puerto Plata: along the western-most sea cliffs at the town of Sosúa, ca 4¡¡0 m elevation. One small population of about 50-100 plants directly behind the Sand Castle Hotel, growing with Clusia sp., Hamelia sp., and Cocoloba sp. Shrub 1-2 m; corollas orange to red; calyces and bracts green; young growth snow-white tomentose; leaves dull-green above. Flowers visited by hummingbirds.
