Salvia foveolata Urban & Ekman Lamiaceae
Sierra Baoruco, Prov. Pedernales: along road from Los Arroyos to El Aguacate, ca 8 km S of El Aguacate, ca 1700 m. Not abundant in montain cloud forest with Didymopanax tremulus, Brunellia comocladifolia, and Pinus occidentalis. Shrub 1-4 m; corollas yellow; calyces strongly purple-tinged, otherwise green; bracts purple; leaves dark-green above, not shiny, light green below. Flowers visited by hummingbirds.
