COCHISE CO., 35 iui. ENE of Douglas on road to Cloverdale, N.M. at 5000 feet elevation in a canyon on west slope of the Pelonclllo Mts., just inside the Coronado National Forest.
Tree to 4 m. tall; trunk 1% dm. diameter; bark fissured about every 2 cm., dark gray, the ridges "alligatoring" at 1-2 cm. intervals; leaves bright, shiny green.
Immediately sympatric with Q. reticulata, chrysolepis. oblongifolia.
