NOTE This specimen is one of those mentioned by John Torrey, in his Flora of the State of New York [Fl. N.Y.] Vol. 1, p. vii (1843), where he stated that a reference herbarium was presented to the Cabinet of Natural History at Albany (now, NYS) and six additional sets were to be presented to public institutions. The specimens at NYS bear the pale blue-gray label like this specimen and represent material collected in the State of New York. None of the labels bear collection localities or dates. T.
