Quercus chapmanii Sarg. FAGACEAE Shrub 6ft tall, occasional. Growing in sunny, dry, scrubby sandhill vegetation, burned 2-3 years earlier, in sand (Resota fine sand, 0-5% slopes; thermic, coated Spodic Quartzipsamments). Growing with Andropogon gyrans, Aristida stricta, Carphephorus paniculatus, Cladonia leporina, Conradina canescens, Dichanthelium sp., Euphorbia inundata, Hypericum microsepalum, Ilex glabra, Liatris sp., Lyonia ferruginea, L. lucida, Opuntia humifusa, Pinus elliottii, P. palustris, Polygonelia sp., Quercus geminata, Q.
incana, Q. laevis, Q. minima, Q. myrtifolia, Rhynchospora megalocarpa (?), Rhynchospora sp., Serenoa repens, Smilax auriculata, Stillingia sylvatica, Stylisma patens & Vaccinium arboreum (rare). St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve, Gulf Co. Elev. about 5ft. 29° 42' 02.5"N, 85° 17' 39.6"W. UTM 16 665014E, 3286840N (NAD83/WGS84).
