Quercus agrifolia Nee FAGACEAE Shrubby tree 20ft tall, occasional, fruiting only within 2ft of the ground and no higher, some acorns starting to germinate on the tree. Old acorn caps still attached to 5-6 year-old portions of the branches. In open sun at the edge of a pasture with Quercus douglasii, in loamy soil (Positas loam, 2 to 9 percent slopes; fine, montmorillonitic, thermic Mollic Palexeralfs). West side of Morgan Territory Road, around 100ft S. of the intersection with Marsh Creek Road. Contra Costa Co. Elev. 730ft. 37° 54' 20"N, 121° 52’ 27"W. UTM 10 598966E 4195941N (NAD83/WGS84).
