  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unsure of the precise road "caminho para o Azul" since starting location/direction not specified; georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of mining area "Azul" (Mina do Azul) of Serra Norte Carajás in Parauapebas, Pará. Referred to AME Mineral Economics website for information on Serra Norte Carajás (http://www.ame.com.au/Website/Content/GuestInformation/SiteDetail.html?Commodity=Iron%20Ore&SiteType=Mines&SiteName=U2VycmErTm9ydGUrKENhcmFqJWMzJWExcystK04rU3lzdGVtKQ==). Rem: Rev. Esc. Minas [online]. 2009, vol.62, n.2 [cited 2014-01-02], pp. 131-137 . Available from: . ISSN 0370-4467. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0370-44672009000200003.). Using Google Maps - Satellite and Terrain View, located the area of "Azul." Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of "Azul." Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the mining area (approximated using visual evidence). Used the linear extent as the uncertainty radius.
