Low flat land in the Sacramento valley near Durham. A tree found only in rich deep soil in valbys, and in this legion never found above 225 feet elevation. Often 5 and 6 feet in diameter, seveial massive branches soon arising from the short trunk. The acorns were much used by the Indians. Known as the valley oak.
