One of the several small to medium sized fire-scarred trees growing singly or in groups on sandy, sterile, burned-over hillside. Ground-cover chiefly Andropogon virginicus, A. scoparius and Ciadonia. Overlooking Four-Pole Valley, 3 miles from Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia.
