One of the several small to medium sized fire-scarred trees growing singly or in groups on sandy, sterile, burned-over hillside. Ground-cover chiefly Andropogun virginicus, A. scoparius and Cladonia. Overlooking Four-Pole Valley. 3 miles from Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia.
