The United States of America. Florida, Sarasota County. Jelks Preserve, ca. 1.7 kilometers (by air) south of US 75, 0.8 km (by air) east of North River Road and west of the Mayakka River. 21° 5.589' N: 82° 20.081' W (coordinates from hand-held GPS; accurate to within a radius of about 50 m)
Upland pine flatwoods with scattered Pinus elliotti and Quercus virginiana, shrub layer dominated by Serenoa repens with Quercus spp. (see Atha et al. 2499, 2500, 2504 for oak specimens), Lyonia and Vaccinium spp (including V. stamineum (Atha et al. 2502) and V. corymbosum (Atha et al. 2501). Area periodically burned.
Shrub, 2 m tall, forming colonies.
