51.3” N. Lat. 089° 19’ 53.3” W. Long. T. 16S, R. 2W, NW1/4, SE 1/4 Sect. 4. Horseshoe Lake. Vicinity of former Nuttall’s Oak, on island just west of farm house; 1.9 mile due SE of Olive Branch. Tamms 7.5 min. quadrangle. Elevation 331 feet. Sandy soil and moist organically rich silt.
Floodplain forest remnant, mostly cleared here. Bordered by Taxodium - Nyssa swamp at lake margin. Vicinity of mowed yard. Single tree about 10 meters tall, densely branched; leaves dark green both sides, only slightly paler beneath; acorns scarce; possibly planted?
