FAGACEAE Tree 35ft tall, trunk diameter 15in, occasional within 100ft, otherwise rare. This is at about the northeastern range limit of this species. Growing in a forest on sandy gravel with Acer rubrum, Aralia nudicaulis, Myrica pensylvanica, Pinus rígida, Prunus serótina, Q. alba, Q. coccínea, Q.
velutina, Smilax rotundifolia and Viburnum dentatum. Growing along the E. side of Rt. 124, in front of a house at #261, and around 400ft S. of the intersection with Rt. 137, town of Brewster, Barstable Co. Elev. 80ft. 41° 45' 14"N, 70° 04' 58"W. UTM 19 409992E, 4623018N.
