forest of Quercus alba. Q. rubra. Betula
papvrifera, Ostrva virginiana on hilltops and
slopes.
Tree 10 m. tall, 35 cm. in diameter; bark dark,
hard, cracked and furrowed. Woods on
ungrazed SW-facing slope near ridgetop.
