Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic midpoint of the road which leads from Porto Novo to Pindobal in Mun. Belterra, Pará. Referred to Geonames.org for location information for Porto Novo (http://www.geonames.org/maps/google_-2.623_-54.978.html, accessed: 11/13/2014). Used the reference map and Google Maps - Earth View to locate the road which leads from Porto Novo to Pindobal (unnamed on Google Maps), which spans along the coast of Rio Tapajós. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the location where this road meets the approximate geographic center of Porto Novo to the location of this road at the approximate geographic center of Pindobal, then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along this road nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of the road. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent of this segment of road by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment. Input coordinates, linear extent (4420.0 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
