Rancho El Jabali, 22 km (airline) NNW of Colima in the SW
foothills of the Volcan de Colima; clay soils on steep vol-
canic slopes; natural vegetation humid montane (cloud)
forest. (Near 19° 27.1'N, 103° 41.6’W.) Alt. 1325 m.
On road above (NE of) Lago Jabali, forested slope near
roadside. A solitary 4 m high tree, 3 cm d.b.h.; fls. pale
green with dark green flecks at base of each corolla lobe,
anther connective purplish. An arborescent "giant herb”,
main trunk definitely woody, though probably not of dense
wood.
