Gentle slope with Acacia, Solarium, Cnidosculus, scrubby shrubs and small trees. Some plants
in shade of trees by dirt road, others in full sun in cultivated field. Dryish here now. Growing
with com, squash and agaves. Soil red-brown with volcanic and marble rocks, burned a few
years ago. Common here, but not everywhere, in one part of field only (ca. 25
plants). Decumbent perennial herb from large storage root. Some plants get to 4 dm across.
Fruit present on large plants growing under trees, but only two immature fruits on plants
growing in cultivated field. Mature fiuit purplish. Some fruit pubescent.
