Lycianthes moziniana (Dun.) Bitter
Mexico: State of Michoacan; Mpio. Villa Escalante; SW of Laguna de San Gregorio. Along
road leading to radio tower. 8000 ft.
Flat plain with pasture on one side and cultivated fields on the other. Surrounding forest is
Abies. Plants along road bank and in fields. Couldn't find any plants in pasture this year.
Growing with com. Soil is a well drained andosol. Fairly common, clumps of plants on
roadbank, look clonal. Decumbent to erect perennial herb from deep storage root. White
underground stems lead to root. Only plants in field had fruit, these were mature, green and
soft. Plants on roadbank looked just like last year, small and sterile.
