Lycianthes moziniana (Dun.) Bitter
Mexico: State of Jalisco; Mpio. Rancho el Isote, just W of Sayulapan, along rd between El
Grullo and Ciudad Guzman. Dirt rd enters on S side of road. 6600 ft.
Large dry sandy drainage with moist banks. Oak-pine forest on one side and cultivated fields
on the other side. Plants on moist road banks in grassy or eroded places and within cultivated
field. Growing with com, beans and squash in very traditional field with lots of weeds. Soil
moist, brown, very well drained, fine textured. Franco series. Plants not common, but more
common along road than in cultivated field. Erect to decumbent perennial herb from large
storage root. Long white undergound branches lead to root. Root only revealed by erosion. A
few plants with overly mature, soft, green fruit.
