Lycianthes lenta (Cav.) Bitter
Mexico: State of Oaxaca; mcpo. Santiago Tetepec?; Ca. 5.0 rd mi NW of Jamiltepec
along hwy 200 between Puerto Escondido and Pinotepa Nacional, S side of rd; 650 ft.
Disturbed agricultural area, shrubby disturbed growth, pasture and old fields. Side of
road with Mimosa, Cucurbitaceae, Cyperaceae, Labiatae, Solatium, Martiniaceae, and
grasses. Hot and humid. Scrambling vine, to about 1 m above ground, with shoot
borne roots; uncommon, found in one spot only; flowers pale lilac with green center,
closed at 8 am when collected, half open next morning at 5 am in collecting bag; fruit
green turning red at maturity.
