Mexico: State of San Luis Potosi; Mpio. Zaragoza?; ca. 1.6 rd mi E of little town of
San Francisco, along hwy 70 (Rio Verde - San Luis Potosi hwy), W of Santa Catarina.
Large turnout at site of small shrine; 6700 - 6750 ft.
Highly disturbed, garbage-filled edges of drainage behind (N of) shrine, and slopes on
S side of road, with Quercus, Carya, Rhus, Juniperus, and Ranunculus. Limestone
area. Herbaceous perennial from storage root; rare, the plants widely scattered; flowers
lilac with violet rays, closed at time of collection, but open next morning in collection
bag; flowers badly insect eaten.
