Lycianthes acapulcensis (Baillon) Bitter
Mexico: State of Mexico; Mpio. Temascaltepec; ca. 4-4.5 rd mi S of Temascal tepee along hwy
134, E and W sides of the highway. 6650 ft.
Disturbed, open, grazed oak woodland, moderate to steep slopes, with Melastomataceae,
Convolvulaceae, Labiatae, and fems. On W side of hwy plants are in drainage areas. Not
common, small colonics of plants widely dispersed. Herbaceous perennial from storage root.
Plants mostly with one long main stem, branched above, erect or fallen over. Most plants
sterile, but a few with green fruit, these very thin and pointed, with white markings and some
with purple blotches. A few with a disease that curves the tip of the fruit.
