Mexico. Jalisco. Sierra de Manantlán (25-30 km. southeast of Autlán), along lumber-roads east of the road-crossing called "La Cumbre" between El Chante and Cuzalapa. 5 miles east of La Cumbre.

Habitat
On steep rocky bank. Steep slopes in humid forest of Abies, Quercus and other deciduous trees, with Pinus dominant on the ridges and summits. Locally abundant.

Shrub 3 m. high; flowers golden-yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
