BOSQUE CADUCIFOLIO. Forest on slopes, Alnus
acuminata ssp. arguta, Liquidambar
macrophy11a, Clethra.
Shrubs 1.5-2 m. tall, at edges of forest.
Foliage fetid. Hairs on stem, especially on
new growth, velvety purple. Calyx green and
red. Flowers odorless; corolla bright red.
Fruit red, obpyriform, white-spongy within.
Seeds brown.
