BOSQUE DE PINO—ENCINO. Bottom of gorge along stream, thin
forest of Pinus ayacahuite, Quercus, Abies hickelii, Alnus.
Several shrubs 2 m. tall, the stems with purple hairs when
young. Flowers bright red, hanging. Fruit few, bright red,
soft, spongy, white within; seeds brown.
