COLLECTOR’S NOTE. Valle Je Lob Encinos extends In an east-west
direction on the southern flank of Cerro Giganta at an eleva-
tion of cs• 700 m. At the upper (eastern) end Is a small dry
lake area (El Llanlto) surrounded by an extensive stand of Pro-
scpla Falmerl. The central part of the valley has a park-like
cover of Celtls pallida, Prosopls Jullfi.ora, Cercldlum penlnsu-
lare, Lemalreocereus Thurherl; after heavy summer rains the
floor bears a dense cover of Amaranthus Palmerl. In the sur-
rounding canyons (up to 8y) m.) and on the slopes are Celtls
reticulata, Quercua tuberoulata (restricted to two localities)
Plsonla flavescens, Erythrlna flabelllformls. Mimosa purpuras-
cens, Lyslloma divaricate. Cassia Goldmanll, Jatropha clnerea
J. vemlcosa (at higher elevations), Aralla scopulorum, Hyptls
Emoryl, Lippis barbata, Lemalreocereus Thurberl, Pachycereua
Prlnglel, Alvordla glomerata, and Verbeslna penlnsularls.
