  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Using Google Maps, located Rio Negro nearby the city of Manaus, Amazonas. Assumed that the locality description is referring to the land across the river (Rio Negro) from the southern tip of the city of Manaus. Georeferenced to that location - Iranduba, AM; which is directly to the south of the city of Manaus, across Rio Negro. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates. Used measurement tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent along the shoreline of Rio Negro in Iranduba that is "opposite" the city of Manaus. Input coordinates, linear extent (27424.7 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
