Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center between the mouth of Rio Cupari (synonymous with Rio Cupary), a tributary of Rio Tapajós, and Rio Xingu in Pará, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the mouth of Rio Cupari, a tributary of Rio Tapajós. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line from the mouth of Rio Cupari directly east to Rio Xingu; halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint between the rivers (the "plateau" mentioned in the locality description). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint between the two named places. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment between the two named places, 157452 m.), and measurement error (1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Between Two Places).
