  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Iça between the mouth of the river to where river meets Tarapacá, Colombia. Using Google Maps, located Rio Iça, a tributary of Rio Solimões in Santo Antônio of Iça, Amazonas. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the mouth of Rio Iça (meeting of Rio Iça and Rio Solimões) to where Rio Içá meets the approximate geographic center of Tarapacá, along the shoreline; halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of this segment of Rio Iça. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Iça within boundaries specified by the locality description, 98983.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
