  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of the grounds of the Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, once known as "Instituto Agronômico de Norte" (IAN) in Belém, Pará. Referred to Embrapa website for general information and location of Embrapa (http://www.cpatu.embrapa.br/a-unidade/estrutura-funcional/laboratorios/botanica/). Using reference material and Google Maps - Satellite View, located the grounds of Embrapa. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the geographic center of the grounds of Embrapa. According to the Embrapa website, the Embrapa campus extends into Ananindeua, Pará. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent east of the forested area of Ananindeua; used this distance as the approximated linear extent of Embrapa. Input coordinates, linear extent (11078.2 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
