Habitat
In yellow pine forest. On rocky flat; always among rocks. With P. deustus. Only 8 plants found.

Description
Plants 3 dm. across, 2 dm. high, very woody at base; leaves alternate; corolla lavender-purple, the lobes a deep sky-blue, glandular-puberulent without and within, otherwise without a long beard in throat, the lobes soon reflex after opening (moderately), pale lavender on floor of orifice, throat inflated laterally, not dorso-ventrally (!); staminode brownish-yellow bearded. Flowers differ from gairdner hians in much bluer color, smaller, and in recurving limb. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
