Habitat
Moist forest on poorly drained, frequently inundated soils; canopy @ 15m, discontinuous, with emergents to 20m. Dominated by Mauritia and other palms.

Description
Tree 15m x 12cm, no buttresses, bark in many places rough and shed in irregular rectangular plates to 3 x 5cm. Inflorescences erect, most fruits passed.
