Burned over woodland of Pinus monophylla and Juniperus occidentalis with Artemisia tridentata, Ephedra viridis, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Tetradymia canescens, Eriogonum wrightiii var. subscaposum, Elymus elymoides, Poa secunda, many annuals. Locally common on scree. Schistose, metasedimentary substrate.
