Leavss dark green,glabrous above but pale below. Flowers in short axillary clusters with greenishpbromn buds. Five white stamens extending above petals. Fruit orange-yellow when ripe, fleshy watery pulp with rough stony pericarp. The immtare fruit is green and hard. Native name Bois ÍLeh-leh'’ Also called Swizzle stick from the whorl-like branching of the totem.
