Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 200 m. along Rio Javari (synonymous with Rio Yavari) from the geographic center of the shore of the city of Tabatinga. The city of Tabatinga is located adjacent to the confluence of Rio Javari and Rio Solimões (also known as the mouth of Rio Javari). Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the city of Tabatinga. Beginning at the geographic center of the shore of Tabatinga, used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 200 m. (200.036 m.) along Rio Javari. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset, on the adjacent shore. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find linear extent of the shoreline of the city of Tabatinga (the starting location of offset) by measuring from the geographic center of the shore of Tabatinga to the farthest extent of the shoreline of the city (approximated using visual evidence). Input coordinates, linear extent (5222.17 m.), measurement error (.01 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
