Prov. Pichincha: Mindo, outskirts of town near river. Elev.
1300m. Hemiepiphytic shrub, to 7m. Floral bracts
foliaceous, green; petals white; stamens in a semicircle
above style, filaments pink, nearly white apically,
connectives yellow, thecae lavender-purple; style twisted
to side of exterior stamen, basally glandular, pink, white
distally, the stigma elongate-capitate. Mature berries red.
Flowers emitting a mildly unpleasant, moldy odor at 1700h.
Uncommon.
