Habitat
Growing in disturbed, sandy, gravelly soil along a steep gully at the headwaters of the stream. Canopy is not fully leaved-out; growing in sun. In an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Impatiens capensis, Smilax rotundifolia, Aralia elata, Alliaria petiolata, and Parthenocissus quinquefolia.
