Open dry roadside. With Balanites aegyptiaca, Acacia seyal and Schinus molle. Abundant by the roadside.

Description
Erect shrubs 50 cm to 2 m, sometimes trees with 20 cm wide trunks. Bark pale grey. Flowers facing upwards or 45 degrees sideways; corolla reflexed ca. 30 degrees, bright purple on some plants and light violet on other plants. Young fruit brightly marbled, mature fruit bright yellow, squashable by hand, smells like cucumber when cut open. Pericarp leathery ca. 2 mm thick. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
